Northwestern Mutual

The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company has been helping provide people with life and disability insurance, annuities, and life insurance with long term care benefits for more than 165 years. The company uses their comprehensive planning approach to combine the expertise of their financial professionals with a personalized digital experience and industry-leading products to help its more than 5 million clients plan for their futures. 

  • 5-year partnership with Marquette to create the Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute. Extended through 2028 with a new $35 million investment, building on the $40 million invested to date.
  • Funding provided for new research projects, expanded curriculum and new data science faculty, such as making advancements in data science and technology learning.
    • In these 5 areas: Artificial Intelligence (AI), AI and Data Bias & Ethics, Behavioral Economics, Financial Literacy, and Health & Wealth Inequities.
  • K-12 STEM learning opportunities and pre-college programming.
  • The partnership has launched sponsored research projects, awarded more than $17 million in grants, and hosted multiple research seminars to drive cross-institute engagement and new project ideation.

 

Kohler Company

Kohler Company is one of America’s oldest and largest privately held companies with more than 50 manufacturing locations worldwide. Kohler Co. is a global leader in the design, innovation and manufacture of kitchen and bath products; engines, power systems and clean energy solutions; luxury cabinetry, tile, and lighting.

Marquette’s partnership with Kohler Co. is more than 100 years old. Kohler Co. has touched the lives of many at Marquette through generous donations that fund scholarships, student and faculty programming, the advancement of academic programs, updated facilities and more. The mutually beneficial partnership has resulted in many Marquette alumni being employed or previously employed at Kohler Co.

  • Funded the creation of the Kohler Center for Entrepreneurship located at 1102 W. Wisconsin Ave. in the 707 Hub.  
  • The partnership has allowed Marquette to offer scholarship opportunities such as the Kohler Foundation Scholarship and the Kohler Company Scholarship, that provide tuition support for students at Marquette in the Opus College of Engineering and the College of Business Administration.
  • M-Prize Challenge: A six-week challenge including a diverse 25-person group of Marquette students across 6 colleges of study, Business, Engineering, Communications, Health Sciences and Arts and Sciences. The theme of the challenge was designing for inclusivity. Students worked and received coaching to get a firsthand understanding of physical challenges the aging population faces as well as how to brainstorm and pitch innovative solutions. The challenge contributed to Kohler Co. being recognized among top innovative leaders on the annual Best Workplaces for Innovators list by Fast Company.
  • The Opus College of Engineering launched the Kohler Engineering Leadership Development Program in which Kohler Co. engineers receive leadership development from Marquette faculty and staff with a focus of elevating innovation.
  • In 2019, to celebrate 100 years of Partnership, Marquette and Kohler Co. held a design competition open to interdisciplinary teams of students to redesign a bathroom in the 707 Hub in the Kohler Center for Entrepreneurship, entitled “Redo the Loo.” The teams worked with professional mentors from Kohler Co., toured its facilities, and utilized the company’s line of products in their design entries
  • The partnership has been foundational in the creation of Marquette’s MBA program as well as the success of Marquette’s Center for Supply Chain Management.
  • Donations made through the Kohler Foundation Inc. Have led to the creation of the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hall, and Kohler Co. has provided fixtures and amenities for the Al McGuire Center, Zilber Hall, Eckstein Hall, and Engineering Hall. 

 

 

Omron 

Omron logoAbout Omron: Omron Automation is an industrial automation partner that creates, sells and services fully integrated automation solutions that include sensing, control, safety, vision, motion, robotics and more. Established in 1933 and currently headed by President Yoshihito Yamada, Omron’s 30,000 employees help businesses solve problems with creativity in more than 110 countries.

  • The Omron foundation has gifted over $1 million to Marquette University’s Opus College of Engineering to establish the Omron Advanced Automation Lab.
  • The donation includes a variety of Omron’s own advanced automation solutions such as collaborative robots, industrial robots, vision systems, safety components, along with other next generation technologies.
  • The gift also supports the mechanical engineering graduate program and an endowed scholarship.
  • Omron sponsors the Technical Sales Competition on campus. Marquette students from a variety of disciplines and students from around the region make sales pitches for Omron technologies and products to Omron executives acting as prospective manufacturing clients.

 

Wintrust Corp.

Wintrust is a financial services company headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois. With more than 175 community bank locations and related companies and divisions, they offer traditional commercial and community banking services as well as wealth management guidance. 

  • Town Bank serves as the official commercial and retail banking partner of Marquette and Marquette Athletics.
  • The partnership includes an investment over 10 years to fund student scholarships, athletic and educational programming, and other campus-oriented events.
  • Wintrust and Town Bank will invest in the College of Business Administration’s burgeoning commercial banking program.
  • Wintrust and Town Bank will set aside seed funding for a small business revolving loan fund and will engage with banking program students to administer low-cost small business loans to enterprises located in surrounding neighborhoods, including the Near West Side.
  • Scholarship support for first-generation and low-income students from Milwaukee and Chicago area.
  • Support for the College of Business Administration’s Commercial Banking Program
  • Seed funding for a small business revolving loan fund for banking students to administer to local community enterprises.
  • The partnership with Marquette offers expanded branding opportunities for Wintrust at the Al McGuire Center and Fiserv Forum.

Froedtert Healthcare

Froedtert LogoFroedtert Healthcare’s primary mission of patient care, innovation, medical research, and education aligns closely with Marquette’s mission. Its health network operates easter Wisconsin's only academic medical center and adult Level 1 Trauma Center at Froedtert Hospital. Froedtert partners with the Medical College of Wisconsin to provide a health network that includes eight hospital locations, more than 2,000 physicians and more than 45 health centers and clinics. In 2022, outpatient visits were nearly 1.5 million, inpatient admissions to our hospitals were 55,085 and visits to our network physicians exceeded 1.1 million.

  • Froedtert scholars: a clinical training partnership that will develop graduate nurses who are “practice-ready” and reduce orientation time as they enter the workforce.
  • Partnered with Marquette University’s College of Nursing and Office of Economic Engagement to create “Froedtert Scholars,” a clinical training partnership that develops graduate nurses who are “practice-ready” by reducing orientation time.
