Advocate of educational opportunity named a Marquette trustee

Dr. Arnold Mitchem, president of the Council for Opportunity in Education, is the newest member of the Marquette University Board of Trustees.

Mitchem is an alumnus, former faculty member and former administrator at Marquette. He was director of the university's Educational Opportunity Program from 1969 to 1986.

The Council for Opportunity in Education, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization, works in conjunction with colleges, universities, and agencies to specifically help low-income students enter college and graduate.
