Owen J. Sullivan

Owen J. SullivanOwen J. Sullivan, Arts ’79, was elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 2013. He is an operating partner at Baird Capital, the direct private investment arm of Robert W. Baird & Company. He works with the Baird Capital's technology and services team to pursue investment opportunities and build value within the existing portfolio.

He is the retired president of Specialty Brands for ManpowerGroup, where he served multiple roles, including CEO of Right Management and Experis, as well as leader of ManpowerGroup’s global sales organization.

In 2003, Owen joined ManpowerGroup as CEO of its professional services subsidiary, Jefferson Wells, which specialized in internal audit, finance and accounting, and tax and technology risk management. In 2004, he was named executive vice president of ManpowerGroup and accepted additional responsibility as CEO of Right Management. Right Management operates in 53 countries and is the global market leader in outplacement, as well as a global leader in organizational development. Owen assumed leadership in 2007 of ManpowerGroup’s global sales operations and global accounts, which manage the company’s largest global clients. In 2010, he accepted responsibility for Experis, a $3.5 billion global business, which places skilled professionals in the areas of IT, engineering, finance and health care. Jefferson Wells was integrated into Experis in 2010.

Before joining ManpowerGroup, Owen worked as a management consultant with several venture capitalists and private equity groups, building strategic plans and evaluating acquisition opportunities. Prior to that, he served as president of the financial services group of Metavante Corporation, as well as president of Metavante’s Enterprise Solutions Group.

Owen finds time for commitments outside work and serves on the boards of directors for Journal Communications, Ministry Health Care, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and Children’s Hospital and Health System of Wisconsin.

He is a native of Boston and has completed several advanced business management programs through the Harvard Business School and Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

He is a member of the Marquette University President’s Society.
