Sister Peggy O'Neill to deliver Commencement Address

Marquette University alumna Sister Margaret “Peggy” O’Neill, S.C., will be the keynote speaker at Marquette University’s 134th Commencement ceremony, Sunday, May 17. Sister O’Neill is the founder of El Centro Arte Para la Paz in El Salvador, an agency dedicated to helping the country’s poor and marginalized. Learn more about Sister O'Neill.


Former university president Rev. Robert Wild, S.J., will receive honorary degree

Father Robert Wild, who served as Marquette’s president from 1996 to 2011 and as interim president from 2013 to 2014, will also receive an honorary degree. During Father Wild’s 16-year tenure as president, undergraduate applications to Marquette increased fourfold, from approximately 5,000 applications to nearly 20,000 for fall 2010. At the same time, he stressed the importance of access to higher education, significantly increasing funding for student financial aid and creating scholarship programs specifically targeted at underserved populations.
