Description of Agency/Activities: A service program run by MU students through University Ministry. Midnight Run aims to serve meals and work with Milwaukee's hungry and homeless population. It also plans reflections for student volunteers to give them the chance to draw a connection between faith and service.
Student Role in Agency: Help serve meals and interact with people being served. In addition to serving meals, service learners provide companionship to those they serve. Midnight Run volunteers truly see the many faces of homelessness as well as the many issues relating to hunger and homelessness. Through volunteer reflections, service learners, along with other Midnight Run volunteers, are encouraged to draw a connection between faith and service.
"We, as students, share our time, good cheer, and positive energy with those who attend each site. We form friendships, and learn more about the community around us. We engage in conversations and friendly debates and sometimes give words of encouragement or understanding to those who seek it from us. We also form close friendships with the other volunteers whom attend our sites with us."
Commitment: An All-Midnight Run Orientation, two hours a week throughout the semester, periodic All-Midnight Run Reflections during semester.
