Residence Hall Selection process
The 2014-2015 online residence hall selection process for returning students begins this week with the $300 housing deposit collection process. Deposits must be submitted to our office (Carpenter Tower 203) by Friday, March 21. Checks should be made payable to Marquette University.
Returning students will select their housing assignment and roommate through an online system based on a randomly generated assignment time that is activated by the housing deposit.
Complete details about this year's process are available online
Please note: All first- and second-year students, regardless of academic classification, are required to live in a university residence hall.
Living Learning Communities
The Office of Residence Life offers a sophomore living-learning community for students who are interested in enhancing their on campus experience by living on floor with students who share common interests regarding social justice.
Dorothy Day Social Justice Community
The Social Justice Living Learning Community is an opportunity for sophomore students to live on two floors in Straz Tower and focus on creating positive social change.
Participants will take one class with fellow community members each semester:
Fall: PHIL 1001, Philosophy of Human Nature
Spring: PHIL 2310, Philosophy of Ethics
The courses include a service-learning component designed to enhance students' academic experience through engagement with Milwaukee.
Spring Break Closing Information
All residence halls except Carpenter Tower will be closed for Spring Break (March 8–16). The halls close at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8th, and re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 16th.
Only those students who are permanent residents of Carpenter Tower may stay in those buildings over break. Those students who are staying in Carpenter Tower for any portion of Spring Break must notify your residence hall director of the dates that you will be staying in the hall.
