November: Month of Holy Souls

November is a special month of remembrance, when we lovingly recall and pray for those who have died. If you have a deceased loved one whom you would like remembered in prayer by the Marquette community, please submit your prayer request online. Prayer requests will be placed before the altars in the St. Joan of Arc Chapel and the Chapel of the Holy Family on the Marquette University campus.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving and Remembrance

God of comfort and hope,
We give to you the men and women who have gone before us,
and who remain close to our hearts.

Welcome them into the fullness of your Kingdom.
Teach us, even in our loss, to learn from their generous lives,
and open our eyes to the gift of your Son, who calls us to renewal and joy:
“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

During this month of Thanksgiving and All Saints,
as we unite with family and friends, and recall the blessings of our days,
we ask You to help us focus on what is truly essential for a life of faith.
Cultivate in us a deep desire to love and serve Your people,
so that we may, one day, return to you with contentment and joy.

One thing I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
to live in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in his temple.

~ Psalm 27:4
