Laura Kestner-Ricketts, Director

Professional Experience
Laura Kestner-Ricketts is a supportive encourager who assists students and alumni in preparing now for future professional career success.  She has served as the Director of Career Services at Marquette University since 2002.  Prior to that she “cut her teeth” working at small liberal arts colleges throughout the Midwest.   Part of her professional success and satisfaction has come from her involvement in the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers where she has developed skills, knowledge, and lasting friendships. 

Laura collects antique etiquette books and appears on a local morning show as an etiquette and job search expert.  She enjoys cooking, gardening, and singing karaoke (in her living room).  She is a daughter, wife, and mother with a blended family full of young adults, teenagers, one lively preschooler, and a naughty cat.  She happily lives in a friendly neighborhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Professional Experience
Prior to starting her Master of Education degree, Courtney worked professionally as a physical therapist and in management at a Fortune 500 Company. While working toward her M.Ed. she was involved in academic advising and career services experiences and, upon completion of her graduate education, joined the Career Services Center at Marquette University. Courtney is excited to encourage students to actively participate in the career decision-making process and believes in providing students with the tools necessary for successful navigation of their career throughout their life.

Professional Experience
Prior to working in higher education, Kristin worked professionally in the advertising industry for seven years in account management. While working toward her M.Ed. at Marquette, she was involved in residence life, orientation and volunteer programming, and upon completion of her graduate education, she joined the Career Services Center at Marquette University. Kristin is excited to serve as the university contact to employers to help connect them with Marquette’s talented students and believes in supporting students and helping them succeed.

Jeremy has been a higher education professional since 2004 with experience in career services, academic advising, and mental health. Prior to his career in higher education, Jeremy worked as a jazz musician in the Milwaukee area and held a variety of positions in local non-profit arts organizations. Jeremy’s passion is to guide students through all stages of the career development process to help them pursue meaningful careers.

Professional Experience
Maria Mostek began her student affairs career in 2012 after finishing her Master’s in Counseling with a concentration in college student development at DePaul University in Chicago. She has experience in academic advising and career counseling from UW-Madison and DePaul University, respectively. Maria is naturally inclined to observe the unique qualities of each individual she meets. She aims to utilize this strength to positively impact the student as a whole person and specifically surrounding their career development. Maria is motivated to take on challenging tasks and continue to enhance the Marquette student experience as a member of the Marquette University Career Services Center.

Professional Experience
Before transitioning into the field of higher education, Bethany served in the Peace Corps as a micro-enterprise development volunteer in South America. After completing her service, she was employed as a corporate trainee and plant scheduler in the commercial printing industry for nearly five years. Bethany worked with Upward Bound, the MU Graduate School and the MU Career Services Center while pursuing her M.Ed. at Marquette. Bethany looks forward to partnering with students to help them define and achieve their unique career goals.

Charonda Oliphant

Professional Experience
While pursuing her M.Ed. in Educational Policy and Leadership (College Student Personnel Administration), Charonda volunteered in the Career Services Center at Marquette University for her practicum experience. Meeting with students sparked her interest even more than expected and solidified her passion for working with students in the career development aspect. A few months after completing her graduate education, Charonda joined the CSC team as a Career Counselor. Charonda is now aids students in the career development process, while still staying involved in a positive manner within the community at large. Making a living, while making a difference has been a true dream for Charonda.

Prior to her current position in Career Services Center, Denice worked as a Student Financial Services Assistant in the Office of the Bursar. Before joining Marquette University, she worked for AAA Wisconsin Insurance and held licenses in Property and Casualty insurance as well as Life insurance.

Sharon Hansen

Sharon Hansen, Employer Relations and Events Coordinator

B.A. Education, Lakeland College

Professional Experience
Before coming to Marquette, Sharon was a Guest Teacher in several school districts working with students of every level. She also has experience as an Event and Marketing Coordinator where she had the opportunity to help families with the home building process, coordinate events, and manage marketing strategies. Sharon looks forward to working with the employers, students, and alumni with employer relations and events.

Student Staff

Staff serves as front line for students seeking resume and career services assistance, assists in carrying-out administrative projects such as career fairs, web page, and on campus recruiting.
