Description of Agency/Activies: NDMS is a Catholic middle school founded in 1996 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. We offer all-girls education to approximately 160 middle school students (5th-8th grades) on Milwaukee’s South Side. Following in the Christian tradition, Notre Dame fosters respect, responsibility, and sharing of personal talents, and prepares students for admittance to a college preparatory high school. In a bi-literate (English and Spanish) setting, with emphasis on leadership skills, critical thinking, and social justice, young women are empowered to make positive contributions to society. All students at NDMS participate in after school programming four days a week from 3:30pm to 6:00pm. This programming is part academic (tutoring and homework assistance) and part extracurricular (arts, athletics, dance, music, formation, etc.)
Student Role at Agency: Volunteers are needed, to provide one-on-one/small group tutoring for students with extra academic needs in reading and math, supervise and help students with their homework during study halls, and occasionally assist in the facilitation of extracurricular activities, depending on experience and interest. Looking for commitment of one day a week (1-2 hours) for an entire semester. We ask for consistency so that we can schedule our staff accordingly.

It is Milwaukee’s only Catholic co-educational dual language immersion primary school dedicated to serving the Latino community. We provide a culture of excellence where students can achieve their potential in their academic, creative, personal, physical, moral, and spiritual development. Notre Dame Primary School is clearly focused on preparing students for the world of today, not only through academic excellence, but also through instilling spiritual values and a sense of responsibility.
Student Role at Agency: Volunteers are needed, to provide instruction in an after- school club. At the primary the club could be anything that interests you (Monday-Thursday, 3:30pm -4:30pm, K4-4th).
