Description of Agency/Activities: The mission of Nativity Jesuit Academy is to "Educate youth for a life of Christian leadership and service." As part of our educational model, we offer an extended school day for middle school boys. Our 6th-8th grade students have a mandatory study hall from 3:30-5:00 every day. The boys also attend a residential summer camp in northern Wisconsin for five weeks. Our Graduate Support Program continues to mentor our students through high school and toward college readiness.
Student Role at Agency:MU students will help with the middle school's study hall program, which runs from 3:30pm-5:00pm Monday-Thursday. Nativity Jesuit students receive tutoring for their homework, especially math and reading. Service learners will provide one-on-one tutoring in these areas in grades 6-8, as well as help teachers with behavior management and supervision. If service learners have an interest in a specific grade level, they can discuss their preferences with the after school program director.
