Founded in 1981 by the Central City Churches, the Guest House offers emergency shelter, transitional shelter, transitional housing and permanent housing for homeless adult men. Services provided include: case management, benefits counseling, AODA treatment and support groups, mental health counseling, education, employability skills assessment, job training and placement, access to primary health care and psychiatric services (including medication monitoring), and referrals to other community-based agencies and providers.
Student Role in Agency:

Students will work with Residential Services staff to help maintain the front office and complete assigned duties. These could include: answer the door, take phone calls, greet donors, and assist guests.
- Assistant to the Employment Specialist- The student will assist the employment specialist with the preparation and facilitation of employment workshops, allowing clients to receive a greater amount of on on one time. Duties will include: helping create and conduct employment workshops, assist with research regarding employment, job training, and skill building, providing job search instruction to clients, and sorting, filing, scanning, shredding documents. Students are expected to communicate clearly, be experienced in web-based research, have the ability to create professional documents, maintain confidentiality, and have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Commitment: Orientation, plus 2 hours per week of service.
