Vacant House Watch program available during
Spring and Easter breaks

Students living off campus can take advantage of Public Safety's Vacant House Watch program during Spring and Easter breaks. Students residing in the near off-campus neighborhood can register their homes so that DPS officers can discreetly monitor the property periodically during their routine patrols of the neighborhood. Vacant House Watch registration forms are available online or at the Public Safety office in the 16th Street Parking Structure. For more information call (414) 288-6800. Students are also encouraged to discontinue mail and newspaper service during extended absences and to activate alarm systems if they are available.

NEWS FOR PARENTS

Advising week for fall 2013, March 18-22

Every semester Marquette takes a week for students to meet with their academic advisers. All students are assigned an adviser for the college in which they are enrolled, and students are required to meet with their advisers once a semester before registering for next-semester courses. Parents can ask if students have scheduled time with their advisers and if they are prepared with questions.

Advising is an important part of a student's success. Each college handles advising a little differently, so students are encouraged to check their Marquette email accounts for more information and to read the Undergraduate Bulletin, which describes the expectations for advisers and advisees.

Summer class registration begins March 21

Registration for more than 500 summer classes offered by Marquette begins March 21. With small class sizes and flexible evening courses, as well as a few select weekend courses, students can earn credits in just six weeks. More information about summer programs, including housing and student services, is available online.

All residence halls except Carpenter close for Spring Break

All residence halls except Carpenter Hall will be closed for Spring Break at noon, Saturday, March 9, reopening Sunday, March 17, at 8 a.m. Only students who are permanent residents of Carpenter may stay in the building over break.

Students and alumni getting LinkedIn to Marquette's eMentor

Sometimes all a recent grad needs to land a job is an introduction. That's what happened for Katie Simoncic, Comm '12, who listened when her professors preached the importance of connections and networking. When Marquette launched its CIRCLES eMentor Network (part of the Alumni Association's LinkedIn group), she didn't hesitate to jump on board.
