2013-14 Resident Assistant Selection

The Resident Assistant Selection process for the 2013-2014 academic year will begin in early November with information sessions and applications.

RA information sessions allow you to obtain application materials and as much information about the RA job as possible.

Students interested in RA positions are asked to attend an information session so that we can provide you with valuable information about the job benefits and qualifications:

Manager (FM/AM) Selection Process

The Office of Residence Life is currently accepting applications for the Apartments and Facilities Manager positions.

These are advanced leadership positions that require confident, competent, and committed student leaders.

Apartment Sign-Up Information

Different Apartment / Same Building Selection
November 7
Current residents may sign up for a different apartment in the same building.

Different Building Selection
November 8
Current residents may sign up for an apartment in a different building.

Access Apartment Sign-Up Time
November 9 –12
Students applying for the University Apartments who are not current apartment residents will be able to access the online sign-up system to view their assigned sign-up date and time.

General Apartment Selection
November 12
For students new to the University Apartments, apartment selection using the online sign-up system will take place between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. according to your assigned sign-up time.

Please remember some other important information:

Every resident who plans to live in the University Apartments must pay a Housing Deposit.

Housing Deposits are only refundable if you (or your roommates) do not assign yourself to an apartment using the online system. If you or your roommates select an apartment through the online system, your deposit is not refundable, even if you do not choose to live in the University Apartments.

When you pay the housing deposit, you will receive an information packet on how to use the online system, along with resources and guides for selecting an apartment.

There must be at least one person per each bedroom in an apartment.

You must be enrolled as a full-time Marquette student for the 2013-2014 academic year. There are no guarantees of apartment availability. .

Break Period Information

Thanksgiving Break

All residence halls will remain open during Thanksgiving Break (November 21–25). If you plan to stay in your residence hall, please notify your RA in advance. Upon every entrance into the halls, resident and guest ID's will be collected.

Visitation Information

Overnight visitation will not be permitted during Thanksgiving Break from November 21 through November 25. Visitation hours will end at 1:00 AM each night during these breaks. Ask your Residence Hall Director any questions you may have.

Winter Break

All residence halls except Carpenter Tower will be closed for Winter Break (December 15 –January 13). The halls close at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15th and re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 13th. Only those students who are permanent residents of Carpenter Tower may stay in those buildings over break.

Those students who are staying in Carpenter Tower for any portion of Winter Break must notify your residence hall director of the dates that you will be staying in the hall. Please note: the extended opening of these buildings is meant to accommodate students who are unable to return home and not to provide single overnight stays to students visiting Milwaukee. Students who do not sign-up for break housing prior to December 11th, must have approval by the residence hall director before being allowed to stay in Carpenter Tower.

Social Justice in Action Retreat
January 19-21, 2013

Application deadline: Tuesday November 20, 2012

The Social Justice in Action Retreat is a weekend retreat designed to increase participants awareness about the concepts of social justice and leadership through exploration of their own stories & experiences and those of others, and the issues of oppression and privilege.

Participants will take part in many activities, interactions, and dialogue to gain an understanding around social justice issues, enhance self-awareness skills, and develop action plans.

Participants will also develop support networks with each other and learn about resources and skills to be allies for other groups on campus and other communities they are members.
