Sophomore Housing Fair

housingOn Wednesday, February 26, the Office of Residence Life will sponsor the Sophomore Housing Fair to kickoff the 2014-2015 residence hall selection process for returning students.

The fair will run from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. in AMU ballrooms and will outline complete details about this year's selection process. Students will be able to learn about all of the housing options available to current first-year students including the the social justice living-learning community.

Please note: All first- and second-year students, regardless of academic classification, are required to live in a university residence hall.

 

Social Justice Community

ddsjSpend your sophomore year living with others who have similar goals: advocating for justice issues, whether poverty or fair trade, the environment or education.

The Social Justice Living Learning Community is an opportunity for sophomore students to live on two floors in Straz Tower and focus on creating positive social change.

Participants will take one class with fellow community members each semester:

Fall semester
Philosophy 1001, Philosophy of Human Nature

Spring semester
Philosophy 2310, Philosophy of Ethics

The courses include a service-learning component designed to enhance students' academic experience through engagement with Milwaukee. Apply online today or find out more information at the Sophomore Housing Fair.

 

Writing Center Satellite Location

During the Spring Semester, Residence Life will sponsor a satellite location of the Writing Center in the McCormick Hall Private Dining Room.

wcHours of Operation:

Sundays, 7 to 9 PM
Mondays, 7 to 9 PM
Wednesdays, 7 to 9 PM
Thursdays, 7 to 9 PM

 

Tutors are available for one-on-one consultations on a drop-in, first-come-first-serve basis. For more information on the Writing Center, please visit their website.

NRHH's Recognition Week

Recognition Week is Feburary 17-21. This is an entire week dedicated to recognizing anyone and everyone that is a part of Residence Life at Marquette. Follow @MUNRHH on Twitter to see who is being recognized on each day so that you can recognize them too!

 

NRHH Of the Month Awards (OTM)

Do you know someone who does their job really well? Someone who is always on top of their game and has an awareness of what is going on campus and in the community? If so, they may be eligible for an “Of The Month” (OTM) Award.

OTMs are given monthly to individuals, groups or programs that have made a positive impact on the residence life community at Marquette University.

If you would like to submit a nomination, please visit the OTM website at http://otms.nrhh.org/.

• Select the institution (Marquette University)
• Select the category and start recognizing!

Of the Month (OTM) Awards are due on the 1st of every month! This is a great way to recognize outstanding people and programs around Marquette's campus!

Saturday, March 8, 2014: Residence halls close at 5 p.m. for Spring Break

Sunday, March 16, 2014: Residence halls reopen at 8 a.m. for all residence hall students

Saturday, May 10, 2014: Residence halls close at 12 p.m. for the spring semester
