Prospective Students

Conditional admission is a promise to admit a student when their English ability improves to the required standard. Requests for conditional admission should be communicated to the Office of International Education when submitting other application materials.

Applicants for conditional admission must meet all admission requirements except the English requirement. English studies necessary to qualify for final admission cannot be completed at Marquette.

Conditional admission becomes final admission when we receive one of the following forms of required English evidence that meets our admission standards:

Details on the scores required for these tests and programs can be found on the required application materials webpage.

*Enrollment at our partner ESL programs requires a separate application to the ESL program. The ESL partner will issue an I-20, which you will use to apply for an F-1 visa for English studies. After enrolling in one of these programs, a TOEFL or IELTS cannot be used for final admission unless the test date is at least two months after the last date of study at the program.
