Are you graduating? Have you gone overseas on an international program through Marquette? Or do you hold citizenship from another country?

If so, take advantage of an opportunity to stand out from the crowd at graduation and represent your international experience by purchasing an international flag sash to wear at the ceremony. Anyone who has gone overseas on a Marquette international program or who holds citizenship from a country other than the US is eligible to wear a flag sash. Every country is available. The sashes are high quality and make an excellent memento that you can display for the rest of your life.

Do you actually have flags from every country?

Yes. Flags from every country are available.

I participated on an international service experience through Marquette. Am I eligible?

Yes. Anyone who has gone overseas on a Marquette international program is eligible to order a flag sash for graduation. This includes international service programs such as Global Brigades, IMAP and Engineers Without Borders.

I didn't study abroad on a Marquette program. Am I still eligible?

If you were accepted to study abroad or participated in an international experience by Marquette's Office of International Education on a Marquette program or external approved program, you are eligible to order a flag sash for graduation.

Am I eligible for a flag sash if I visited or volunteered in a country while an undergraduate at Marquette?

No, the flag sash is specifically for those students that registered their international study or service experience through Marquette's Office of International Education or international students that are receiving their degrees from Marquette.

I participated on an international experience for undergraduate research through Marquette. Am I eligible?

Yes, if your international experience for undergraduate research was vetted and approved by the Office of International Education. Examples include students who have received the Center for Peacemaking's student peacemaking fellowships.

I am of Norwegian descent. Can I order a Norwegian flag sash?

No. The flag sash program was created to enable students to represent their international citizenship (i.e. Students who hold a passport from another country) and students who have gone overseas on a Marquette international program.

What do double country sashes look like?

The flag sash is split in half. One half of the flag sash (hanging down one shoulder) is one flag and the second half of the flag sash (hanging down the other shoulder) is the second flag.

What does a triple country flag sash look like?

Students who order a triple country flag sash can choose to have the flag sash split in equal thirds, which means one flag will be somewhat hidden behind the neck when worn. Or, students can elect to have it split in two with one side representing one single flag and the other side (hanging down the other shoulder) to be split in two with the second flag on the upper half and the third flag on the lower half.
