April 2017 — Winners Announced for Raynor Memorial Libraries’ Final Annual Maria Dittman Research Competition

Raynor Memorial Libraries is pleased to announce the winners of the 20th and final Maria Dittman Library Research Competition.

  • Cara Caputo, Impact of Tuberculosis on Victorian England
  • Roselee Ledesma, Ethnic Identity Statuses and Latino/a Mental Health Outcomes

The Dittman competition invited Marquette students to submit high-quality research papers from the previous calendar year. Submissions were judged based on the thorough use of library resources, variety and appropriateness of resources used, and quality of the research process description.

After 20 years, the 2017 winners will be the final honorees as the competition comes to a close. The competition began in 1998 to honor retiring instruction librarian Maria Dittman. Dittman taught research skills to thousands of students during her 25 years at the university. The awards were funded by Marquette’s Academic Librarians Assembly and Libraries Support Staff Association as well as a memorial gift designated by the Dittman family. A list of past winners can be viewed on the library’s website.
