September 2013 -- The 32nd edition of Foundations in Wisconsin: A Directory is now available for purchase, both in print and electronic formats, through the Funding Information Center at Marquette University's John P. Raynor, S.J. Library.
The directory is designed as a research tool for grantseekers interested in locating information on private, corporate, and community foundations registered in Wisconsin. Each year the directory is updated with the most current institutional and financial data drawn from IRS 990-PF tax returns as well as surveys, foundation websites, annual reports and newsletters.
New financial data in the 2013 directory reveals that the recovery of Wisconsin foundations from the recent economic downturn has been mixed. The total number of active granting institutions dropped slightly from 1,301 in 2012 to 1,264 in 2013 with grants paid following suit ($490,683,280 in 2012 to $487,953,327 in 2013). Total assets rose slightly from $7,022,030,971 in 2012 to $7,068,417,918 in 2013.
Other data found in the directory's foundation profiles include the purpose statements, application procedures, contact information, total assets and grants, and samples of grants given.
Foundations in Wisconsin is produced by staff of the Funding Information Center at Marquette University. The center at Marquette has participated as a cooperating collection since 1973 and is one of only five in the state of Wisconsin and one of over 470 nationally.
