Dr. Donna McCarthy Dr. Donna O. McCarthy, R.N., F.A.A.N., is interim dean and professor in the Marquette University College of Nursing. She joined Marquette after serving as professor and associate dean for research at The Ohio State University College of Nursing. She previously served as a visiting senior scientist in the intramural research program of the National Institutes of Nursing Research on the campus of the National Institutes of Health, and as a professor in the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Nursing.

McCarthy’s area of research is the pathobiology of illness symptoms. She has received more than $3 million in extramural funding over the past 30 years, resulting in 70 peer-reviewed publications. Admitted into the American Academy of Nursing in 2006, she has also held various leadership positions in the Midwest Nursing Research Society and the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science. She was recently selected to serve as an ambassador for the Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research.
