Rev. Timothy R. Lannon, S.J., was elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees in 2003. He is the president of Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, a position he assumed in 2011. In his inaugural year, Father Lannon initiated a university-wide planning process driven by newly defined strategic goals and initiatives and created a provost position, bringing together academic leadership from all nine undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools.
Father Lannon served as president of Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia from 2003 to 2011. Under his leadership, Saint Joseph's created a university-wide strategic plan, enhanced the campus infrastructure and footprint, doubled the university's endowment and launched the most successful fund raising campaign in its history. Collectively, these and other achievements generated national recognition for the university and its pursuit of educational excellence.
Prior to the presidency at Saint Joseph's, he served as vice president for university advancement and associate executive vice president at Marquette University. He has also served as president of Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha.
Father Lannon entered the Society of Jesus in 1977 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1986.
He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Creighton University; master's degrees in divinity and theology from the Weston Jesuit School of Theology; and a master's degree in education and a doctoral degree in administration, planning and social policy in higher education at Harvard University.
He is a member of the boards of Creighton Preparatory School and Santa Clara University.
