We welcome your interest in the University Honors Program! Our goal is to welcome academically strong students by demonstrating a commitment to the ideals of academic excellence and Jesuit pedagogy and scholarship across the disciplines. We foster interdisciplinary learning, teaching, scholarship, and also excellent undergraduate research. The Honors Program at Marquette graduates students prepared for national and international undergraduate and postgraduate fellowships and scholarships.
The Program is open to academically qualified students in any of Marquette’s seven colleges — Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Communication, Education, Engineering, Health Sciences or Nursing.
Historically, we have been fortunate to receive many outstanding applications. This makes the admissions process highly selective, as we've drawn from pools of very well qualified students. In reviewing applications we strive to consider the student as a whole person, taking into consideration not only academic achievement but enthusiasm and potential for future success. We do not require minimum ACT/SAT scores or GPAs for consideration of applications.
Eligibility and when to apply
Invitations to apply to the University Honors Program are extended to qualified students after they have been admitted to Marquette, beginning in January of the year they will enter the University. Invitations to apply are based on a holistic review of students’ applications to Marquette, with emphasis on rigor of high school curriculum, grade point average, class rank, and standardized test scores. Review of applications begins after February 1 and continues on a rolling basis throughout the spring as space in the Program permits. Students who submit applications by April 15 will receive preference for housing in the Honors Living-Learning Community.
Interested students are encouraged to contact the University Honors Program for additional information.
