The establishment of endowments to support College of Engineering faculty is one of Dean Robert Bishop's priorities. These transformational endowments are vital to attracting and retaining the highest caliber scholars whose teaching and research will inspire today’s students and prepare them to be tomorrow’s leaders in both industry and academia.
Michael J. Wallace, Eng '69 has established the Michael J. Wallace Endowed Faculty Scholars Fund in Energy Leadership to kick off the endowments program. The fund was established to supoort a teaching and research cluster in energy systems leadership in the college. Including support of research, curriculum development and other efforts to enhance the teaching of energy systems and leadership in the college.
Dr. Margaret Mathison and Dr. Casey Allen, assistant professors of mechanical engineering, are the first co-recipients of an award from this program. Mathison joined the faculty in 2011 and Allen joined in 2012.Back to top
The Marquette Space Engineering (MUSE) team is hoping to raise the school to new heights in the coming years. The team, currently made up of 13 students and their adviser, Robert Bishop, dean of the College of Engineering, is hoping to launch its first satellite by 2014.
“Building a satellite isn’t an everyday occurrence, so really the objective here is to just get Marquette into space,” Bishop said. “The objective after that depends on what students really want to do.”
The team is open to all students and is definitely a multidisciplinary effort. “Space exploration isn’t just for engineers,” Bishop said. “It’s for all students who feel the need to explore and think that space is a great avenue for people hoping to explore. "
