Majors and Minors

The College of Education provides the professional course sequence, administers admission and retention in its programs and field experiences, and recommends for certification.

Marquette offers certification in elementary/middle education (grades 1-8) and middle/secondary education (grades 6-12). Students who complete the teacher education program graduate with a double major in education and an academic content area. Those students pursuing a degree in Educational Studies must also complete a second major, but they are not restricted by the list below. Please speak with your advisor.

Students pursuing a major in middle/ secondary education may pursue a minor for certification; both elementary/ middle and middle/ secondary students with strong second language skills may pursue a licensure minor in Bilingual-Bicultural.
