Doctoral Program in Counseling Psychology Awarded Seven Year Grant of Continued Accreditation from American Psychological Association

Released: 4/10/13

The Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology Department is pleased to announce that it has been awarded seven years continued accreditation for its Counseling Psychology Doctoral Program by the American Psychological Association (APA). This is the maximum number of years continued accreditation that can be awarded by the APA.

"Our successful reaccreditation efforts with the American Psychological Association are most gratifying, but I can’t honestly say that I’m surprised by the outcomes," remarks College of Education Dean Bill Henk. "The Counseling Psychology doctorate in the College of Education at Marquette enjoys a national reputation for excellence on the basis of its academic rigor and the professional strengths of our outstanding faculty and students."

The APA Commission on Accreditation (APA-CoA) is recognized by both the U.S. Department of Education and the Council of Higher Education Accreditation, as the national accrediting authority for professional education and training in psychology.
