Marquette Takes Action Bystander Intervention

Sara Johnson attended the Step Up! Train-the-Trainer Conference in May 2012 at the University of Arizona and is now a certified trainer for the Step Up! Bystander Intervention curriculum.

Lieutenant Weisensel serves as a member of the Vistelar National Verbal Defense Team, and is a leader in the law enforcement community in bystander intervention education. Lieutenant Weisensel speaks to law enforcement organizations across the country regarding the topics of verbal defense and the importance of bystander intervention.

To date, over 2500 students have gone through the MU T.A.K.E.S. A.C.T.I.O.N. bystander intervention training either through trainer trainings or the program itself.

Student leadership awards

The Division of Student Affairs presents leadership awards annually to recognize student contributions to the mission and activities of the various student affairs areas. Students are nominated by staff from the division and throughout the university and are selected by a committee representing each of the student affairs departments and Campus Ministry.
