Shaun joined the Marquette community in 2011. He has twelve years of higher-education faculty professional development experience, and has published and presented in the areas of inclusive excellence and in gaming software for education.
A former faculty member of Texas A&M University, Shaun has fifteen years of teaching experience, having also taught at Notre Dame, The University of California at Irvine and The University of Texas at Dallas.
In 2011, Shaun was elected to a three-year term on the
governing board of the national faculty development professional society,
POD Network in Higher Education.
Professionally, Kim has been with the Program since 2001, but she also participated in Service Learning as a service learning student, a student employee, a site contact, and a service learning faculty member.
Kim has a bachelor's degree in Social Work, and master's degree in Education with a concentration Leadership and Policy, both from Marquette. In addition to her role in Service Learning, Kim is a part-time faculty member in the Department of Social and Cultural Sciences, and teaches Introduction to Social Welfare and Justice.
Her current areas of interest include student reflection, faculty development, community-based research, social justice education, service learning as high impact practice, community-university partnership, community-impact assessment, and student leadership development.
Tyanna graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in African-American Studies from Marquette. While a student at Marquette, Tyanna worked for the YMCA for 5 years in roles ranging from volunteer mentoring to youth program coordination. After graduation, Tyanna served in two AmeriCorps Programs-Public Allies and Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) working with youth and assisting with community revitalization efforts. She also served two terms as a Health, Water, and Sanitation Volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Ghana, West Africa.
Tyanna brings a wealth of knowledge about the Milwaukee community with a commitment to service.
Her current interests include social justice, diversity and inclusion, and partnerships between urban communities and higher education institutions. She is responsible for developing community partnerships, managing the student leader staff, and assisting faculty in finding mutually beneficial partnerships. Tyanna is excited to work with students and faculty helping them figure out their role in building a better relationship with the urban Milwaukee community through service learning.
Carrianne is currently serving as Interim Director of eLearning, having previously worked with departments and faculty across campus to develop online and hybrid programs and courses, and provide faculty development. She has more than 15 years of experience designing and teaching online courses, and has designed programs and courses for both academic and corporate settings.
Prior to coming to Marquette, she taught at University of Wisconsin-Parkside and Carthage College. She also has elementary and middle school teaching experience. Her research interests include online discourse, the use of online simulation, and faculty development in instructional technology use, and she has published and presented in these areas.
Carrianne completed undergraduate work in history and human development at the University of California, Riverside. She earned a master's in Education from Pepperdine University and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Leadership from Marquette.
María is the Instructional Technologist in the Center for Teaching & Learning where she provides full time D2L support and facilitates training sessions for faculty on instructional technology use.
Before joining the Center for Teaching & Learning, she was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish at Marquette University. María has worked in the higher education field for over ten years as a professor and, more recently, as an instructional designer. Over her career she has integrated her skills as a graphic and instructional designer and her knowledge on pedagogical principles to create educational materials, such as instructional modules, animations, and illustrations to enhance learning in various subject areas.
Her current research focuses on intercultural competence, E-learning, professional development, and Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL). In addition to her research, María has presented in conferences internationally and has coordinated, developed, and facilitated workshops and seminars for professional development,taking into consideration the different learning styles, and implementing diverse modes of face-to-face, blended, and full online delivery.
María holds a doctorate in Computing Technology in Education from Nova Southeastern University, a TESOL Certificate, a MA in Foreign Language and Literature from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and BAs in Spanish and Graphic Design from University of North Carolina Charlotte.
Dennis has worked in media production at Marquette since 1982. As Production Manager, he develops media projects for the classroom, research and outreach. Collaborating with faculty, staff and students from virtually every department, his goal is to help the Marquette community tell their stories.
Dennis has a bachelor’s degree from the College of Letters and Science and a master’s degree from the School of the Arts, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
Prior to working at Marquette, Dennis worked as an independent filmmaker and photographer. His work has been featured on PBS, in film festivals, museums and galleries around the world. He is active in the arts community and veterans’ issues.
Gary joined the Marquette community in 1981. He has extensive experience in video and media production, moving the campus from the old VHS “analog” days, to today’s digital, online and streaming technologies. He has enjoyed these changes and challenges, and looks forward to the ever evolving ways that Marquette finds to use media. He holds a Bachelors degree in Communication from UW-Stevens Point.
All the technology aside, he finds the best media presentations, start with a good story.
Dan has worked at Marquette as a photographer since 1977 and became the Chief Photographer in 1983. He provides photographic support to all areas of the University community including classroom support, research, events, athletics, web, social media and publications. He guest lectures in the College of Communication and teaches GROW classes in Digital Photography and Photoshop.
Dan received a BA in Mass Communications/Photo Journalism from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
John moved from Madison to Milwaukee to join the Marquette community in 2014. He has 17 years of experience in video production and over 10 years of experience in news production. Enjoying creative and challenging video projects as well as meeting new and interesting people, John happily accepted his position at Marquette feeling it balanced his professional interests and faith. He graduated from MATC, Milwaukee campus, with a degree in television and video production and enjoys movies, rock climbing, and working on his house when he has free time. John feels fortunate to be able to do what he loves everyday.
Amber Young-Brice has joined the Center for Teaching & Learning as our Educational Consultant in residence. She is a full-time participating faculty within Marquette’s College of Nursing for the past three years, and has taught in higher education for a total of seven years. She will be available at the CTL for individual faculty consultations, discussions on best practices in higher education, and offers programs specifically for clinical and practicing faculty.
Her role in The Center for Teaching & Learning leverages her experience of faculty mentoring and educational development. In particular, Amber has worked to onboard new faculty in the college as part of her service. In 2014, the College of Nursing received the VA Nursing Academic Partnership award in conjunction with the Milwaukee VA. Amber was instrumental in the onboarding process, development, and mentoring of the new faculty associated with the program. She also coordinated the integration of veteran-centric content into the undergraduate nursing curriculum. Additionally, Amber has experience in curriculum design and assessment, course development and coordination, instruction techniques, reflecting on effectiveness of teaching (teaching evaluation review), and contemplative pedagogy.
Amber’s current research focuses on ethnic minority nursing students’ experiences while in college. She examines instances of mindfulness or mindlessness within their personal narratives and how those concepts may contribute as barriers or facilitators in degree completion. She holds a Master’s in Nursing Education and Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She is a certified master trainer for Team STEPPS and currently serves on several College and University committees.
Peggy is located within the Service Learning Program, assisting with administrative support there and the CTL whenever needed. At the same time, she is the administrative support for the Trinity Fellows Program.
She enjoys planning special events, reflections and interacting with the graduate and undergraduate students. Prior to working at Marquette she was employed at the Milwaukee Art Museum and Very Special Arts of Wisconsin for many years. She holds a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
Eric's appointment is in the Raynor Memorial LibrariesResearch and Instructional Services Department where he collaborates with faculty and librarians to design and develop web based learning objects on a variety of topics. He also collaborates with the Center for Teaching & Learning's E-Learning team to assist faculty with online course development.
Prior to arriving at Marquette, Eric worked at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Great Lakes Water Institute developing online learning modules and websites for grades K-Gray on the topic of freshwater science and research. He also spent six years at the University of California at Irvine's Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences as a web developer. A Marquette alumnus, Eric also has a master's degree in Instructional Design and Technology from California State University at Fullerton.
Sharron L. Ronco is Marquette's Assessment Director, assisting academic departments and co-curricular units in the assessment of student learning outcomes for program improvement.
Before joining Marquette in August, 2011, Dr. Ronco was Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness and Analysis at Florida Atlantic University, overseeing the university's data collection and reporting, surveys and analysis, and assessment for institutional effectiveness.
She also spent twenty years working in higher education in Texas; first as a Branch Chief in the Dallas regional office of the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights, and later as Director of Institutional Studies at the University of Texas El Paso. She earned a Ph.D. in Educational Research and Statistics from the University of North Texas.
A native of Milwaukee, Dr. Ronco's bachelor's degree from Marquette University and master's degree from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee prepared her for an earlier career in secondary school teaching and bilingual education. She is active as a presenter and program committee member in state, regional and national institutional research associations, and has publications addressing the use of statistical techniques for understanding student enrollment behaviors, and in assessment.
With an office in the newly restructured Center for Teaching and Learning, Dr. Ronco will develop regular assessment training for campus stakeholders, support accreditation activities, provide assistance with program reviews and champion the ongoing effort to build a campus-wide culture of assessment.
Susan is the Director of Manresa for Faculty, an initiativewhich supports the exploration and deepening of the role of faculty in a Jesuit Catholic institution. She was director of the Manresa Project, a $2.5 million grant-funded program for the theological exploration of vocation at Marquette University from 2002-2009.
Before that she served as a campus minister and an adjunct faculty member since 1977 teaching at various times in the College of Journalism, the College of Communication, the School of Education, the Honors Program, and the Theology Department
She has a master's degree in theological studies from St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee and a doctorate in Philosophy and History of Education from Marquette University. Susan has co-authored a chapter on "Ignatian Pedagogy" with Rebecca Nowacek in Exploring More Signature Pedagogies to be published by Stylus later this Fall. She regularly gives workshops and presentations on Ignatian pedagogy and the use of reflection in the classroom at conferences around the country.
