Why use FOCUS 2?

Career Readiness - Start with Your Career Planning Status in the Career Readiness section. If your scores are in the medium/low range, we recommend you complete the three sub-sections in the Self Assessment section.

Assistance with Major Selection – FOCUS-2 can help you select majors and begin connecting major to career goals. The Career Readiness and Self-Assessment sections are a great place to start to begin reflecting on your interests, skills, and values. These sections will take about 45 minutes to complete, but if you have limited  time, don’t worry, you can exit the system and complete sub-sections at any time in any order.

Career Exploration and Research – To help begin narrowing your results, continue on to Explore the Possibilities and work through the What can I do with a major in…? sub-section. Explore the Possibilities also provides sub-sections with information about careers, including educational background and salary information and the functionality to complete a side-by-side comparison of careers.

Career Planning – When you have determined your major and narrowed your focus to a few career fields, it is time to begin planning to achieve your goals. Use the Create a Plan to Achieve Your Objectives section to build your action plan and keep you on track. If you would like, you can consolidate all of your reports into a portfolio in the Career Portfolio section.
