Midnight Run is a volunteer service program which was initiated by students in 1988. It focuses on the particular needs of the hungry and homeless people living in the community around Marquette. This program is organized by a coordinating team of Marquette students under the supervision of Campus Ministry. Volunteers serve in area meal programs and shelters. Service in Midnight Run is meant to challenge students to integrate their experiences with their faith. Midnight Run's philosophy is rooted in the gospel, with Matthew 25 serving as its hallmark. Midnight Run is based on the fundamental belief in the dignity and worth of all persons and strives to cultivate a sense of responsibility for caring for all members of our community. No running required – Just walk with your neighbor!
Volunteer sign-ups take place at the within the first 2 weeks of each new semester. Volunteers typically commit to service at one of ten service sites each week throughout the semester. In addition, volunteers are encouraged to take part in the regular educational, advocacy and reflection opportunities offered by Midnight Run throughout the year. Look for us on Facebook for updated sign-up schedules or contact Gerry Fischer for more information.• Participate in “Miles for Meals”
Midnight Run’s "Miles for Meals" Run/Walk is a "fun run" that serves as the primary fundraiser for the Midnight Run Program. Midnight Run relies on this Family Weekend event because it receives no university funds to support the meals provided to guests at Noon Run site. Noon Run serves soup and sandwiches to neighborhood guests 6 days a week during the academic year.• Volunteer for Project Homeless Connect: Milwaukee
Project Homeless Connect is a national movement that focuses on ending homelessness. The Homeless Connect model has a proven track record of success in several cities nationwide. Project Homeless Connect: Milwaukee is a one-day, one-stop annual event where homeless people can come to access the multiple services and resources they need, all under one roof. This year takes place annually in Marquette University's Alumni Memorial Union on the Thursday of Fall Break.• “Like” Midnight Run on Facebook
