Jazz Ensembles

The Marquette University Jazz Ensembles program consists of two big bands, one that meets weekly at 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, and one that meets weekly at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays. The jazz ensembles perform twice per semester at the Union Sports Annex, located at 16th and Wells. Additionally, they perform for various other occasions such as the Music Area Holiday Concert each December. The jazz ensembles are directed by Dr. Joel Flunker.

Membership in the jazz ensembles is open to anyone who plays a jazz instrument. The ability to read music is required; however, the ability to improvise is not required! If you wish to learn improvisation, we will be happy to teach you through the course of the jazz ensemble experience!

For more information, please contact Dr. Flunker.
