Our Goals for Students

The Office of International Education has determined four goals for Marquette University students participating on study abroad programs.  Your program may not fulfill all four goals, but expect that it will fulfill at least one:

  • Increasing ones Intercultural Competence: Effectively and appropriately interacting within a variety of cultural context through knowledge, skills and attitudes.
  • Developing ones Global Perspective: Developing and enhancing one global perspective cognitively, intrapersonally and interpersonally.
  • Personal Growth and Development: Gaining confidence in one’s perceived independence, goal accomplishment and sense of purpose.
  • Second-language Acquisition: Improving one’s written, oral, auditory and speaking-abilities in a second language.
